The only travel expo where Africa meet the world in Nigeria, Akwaaba African Travel Market (AfTM),once again renewed commitment and hopes for stakeholders in the tourism, travel and aviation industry to leverage on the three day B2B platform to showcase and update trade buyers, tourists and investors atest trends.

The 2016 edition Akwaaba open on Sunday, October 30, with 15 countries from East Africa, United Arab Emerites (UAE), Southern Africa, Middle East and West Africa converging at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

The opening which was conducted by the Zimbabwe Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Anastancia Ndhlovu, have at the tape cutting ceremony, Bankole Bernard, Nationl President National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies, Mr Omror Alal, Dubai Immigration, and Rwanda High Commissioner to Nigeria, Amb. Stanislas Kamanzi, mrs Fatima Gabati among other.

The three-day exhibition, entertaining and educating session started with the first day, featuring the walk-the-talk where the organiser, Mr Ikechi Uko lead the guests to all the stand for first hand exhibitors profile.

The highlight was the African Travel Awards/Dinner which featured fashion show by topnotch clothiers in lagos, musical performance by Faze, Ire, Bacteria drum entertainers, comic shows and a grand performance by the Carnival Calabar queens representing different bands.

According to the organisers, with about 20 Africa countries and many exhibitors from across the world, expected to attend the event, which is in its 12th year is a travel event featuring travel and tourism related organisations, travel experts, national tourism boards, sellers, buyers and other suppliers of travels.

This year’s conference session is taking on a new dimension with series of talk shops on aviation and tourism dominating the two days. A number of speakers and panel of experts are scheduled to speak and discuss the various topics.
